Living in the BeerBox we have the pleasure of talking to loads of wonderful people about the delights of craft beer, but it’s a shame we miss out on seeing people enjoy our recommendations and discuss flavours. This was the inspiration for Beer Club, let’s start an event where we can sit down with people and talk through the very best beers we have in stock; creating a curated tasting of many different styles. It’s an opportunity for people to get together, relax and talk about craft beer whilst enjoying some of the best there is.
Each beer club has 6 tasty beers for the event, these are specially chosen by us in BeerBox and we went big for the first event! We started with Alleycat, a seemingly simple pale ale with a focus on a smooth malty backbone. Gipsy Hill brews never seem to disappoint and we knew we’d picked a winner with this one. Ramping up the ABV, we jumped up to Lervig’s acclaimed Tasty Juice. A single hop with citra, this allowed us to discuss beers that focus on one hop which we feel are perfect to building a pallet for favourite hops.
Switching styles we moved over to Die Tragedy, a dark berry and marshmallow sour from local brewers Box Social. The marshmallow gives a light pillowy mouthfeel whilst the tang from the berries creates a deep, sour and fruity kick.
For our dark beer we went with Glassfinger, a collab beer from catalan brewery Garage and Toøl. Rich roasted coffee and vanilla undertones lay the foundation of this smooth stout, couldn’t be any more different from our previous beer! Oh what a beautifully complex drink beer is…
Our draught line was Ridgeside’s pineapple and grapefruit IPA, pure tropical juice and a more sessional strength than our previous heavy hitters.
Finally it came to Chubbles, the infamous Cloudwater & The Veil collaboration beer. A stern 10%, this Triple IPA is packed with Galaxy, El dorado and Citra hops. The 7th highest rated beer in England (source: untappd), this was the crowning jewel to the evening and we could all agree, a simply phenomenal beer.
Our first Beer Club was great fun, onto the next one and we hope to see loads of new faces and returning members!
